05 / FAQ

Before you choose a forex broker.

A clearer search starts with the right questions.

Pre-trade checklist

01 Regulation

What should I check before choosing a forex broker?

Start with regulation: check which authority licenses the broker and whether that licence covers clients in your country. Then compare trading costs (spreads, commissions and overnight swap fees), the platforms on offer, the minimum deposit and how deposits and withdrawals work.

02 Costs

What is a spread, and why does it matter?

The spread is the difference between the buy (ask) and sell (bid) price of a currency pair. You pay it on every trade, so tighter spreads on the pairs you trade usually mean lower costs. Some accounts charge a commission in exchange for tighter spreads.

03 Risk

How does leverage affect my risk?

Leverage lets you open a position larger than your deposit. It magnifies losses as much as gains. The maximum leverage you can use depends on the broker’s regulator and your client classification.

04 Finder

What does the broker finder look at?

The finder uses the preferences you provide, including your country, trading instruments, preferred platform and experience level, to narrow the available broker records. You can refine your choices on the finder page.

05 Methodology

Where can I learn how brokers are evaluated?

Our methodology explains how we approach broker research and assessment. Read it alongside the reviews to understand the context behind a score.

06 Conditions

Can broker conditions change?

Yes. Spreads, fees, leverage limits, available platforms and country restrictions can change. Confirm current details directly with the broker before opening or funding an account.
